Cantor Jacob Greenberg began serving as the full-time Cantor of Congregation Beth Israel (Scotch Plains, NJ) in June 2023. He currently holds a seat on the Cantors Assembly Executive Council and is Chair of its New Jersey region's Board of Officers. He was previously the Cantor-Youth Director of Congregation B'nai Israel (Toms River, NJ) for three years.
He graduated from the Jewish Theological Seminary in May 2020 when he received Cantorial Ordination and a Master's in Sacred Music from the H.L. Miller Cantorial School. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Hartt School of Music in 2016.
As a community-builder, Cantor Greenberg engages people of all ages, creating opportunities for participation. As a musician and composer, he takes advantage of the full spectrum of Jewish music. As a devoted student of Torah, he seizes the opportunity to speak, teach, and learn. And as a chaplain, he takes pride in accompanying his congregants, their loved ones, and caretakers.
